Ethics are of the utmost importance in our business. We have established a bidding process for contract negotiation and we adhere to a code of ethics set forth by national purchasing societies for all bidding processes. HPS works in conjunction with the Health Industry Group Purchasing Association (HIGPA) to not only self-certify HPS to HIGPA's industry's standards, but to help create the new standard of an ethical business model for all GPOs to follow. HPS is also active with
Healthcare Group Purchasing Industry Initiative
(HIGPII), an organization comprised of group purchasing agencies who adopt and implement high standards for business ethics.
Additionally, participation in HPS is entirely voluntary. Our members decide to what extent to utilize the program. Our job is to make sure our members are shown the value.

HPS Vendor Product Verification Process
HPS is proud to work for our members and to maintain a healthy bottom line. To do so, we want to be certain the products and services our members receive are legitimate and are not and never have been fraudulent. It is procedure to check with the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General, to verify this information and it was determined that all vendors who have contracts in place with HPS and MedAssets Supply Chain Systems have acceptable results.
This verification was completed by accessing the OIG Web site, http://oig.hhs.gov/fraud/exclusions.html
